A Loose Carroll
Sometimes somewhere someone is saying
That something is changing, changing
the way we are seeing and
waving and wondering why when
we go far from it for nothing
few find what a shrew shines
so shrewdly the morning
as the sun lines its lordly loud land
o'er the world so grand in a band
of brothers, not bothering to make dollars
and sensing the end,
it stops.
Though the paws appear to pause,
the applause continues, and
little girls go to wherever goats know
the spins and the swirls and the squirrels --
not to mention the flags to unfurl
and the furry tails that wag from the ends
of wagons and the heads of dragons,
Frabjous Day!
Dreamful Night.
